Bailey Barash is an independent television producer and journalist. Her
current work focuses on issues of aging, public health, and health care
and economic disparities among low-income Americans. She produces,
writes, shoots, and directs documentaries that tell stories she believes
must be told and produces social marketing videos for non-profits, government
agencies and corporations.
Barash
was present at the birth of CNN in 1980. Over the next 19
years, she rose to the position of Senior Executive Producer, Science
News. She produced network news and documentaries in the areas
of health, medicine, science and technology.
The Science and Technology Unit at CNN won numerous awards, including
the Award for Cable Excellence, the early cable version of the Emmy. In
February 1999 Barash left CNN to start her own production company,
bbarash productions, LLC.
Winner of a 2005 CINE Golden Eagle for her independent documentary, Fried
Chicken and Sweet Potato Pie, Barash has been awarded several
journalism fellowships, which allowed her to study and teach journalism
in Hawaii, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Romania and Hungary.
Barash is married with one son. She is an Atlanta native. She
received her BS degree in Zoology from the University of Georgia and
her MS degree in Genetics from the University of Melbourne, Melbourne,
Australia, where she was a Fulbright Scholar. |
